Volvo Cars reports global sales growth of 25% in September


Volvo Cars reporta crescimento global nas vendas de 25% em setembro

Volvo Cars global sales reached 61,666 cars in September, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year, as Europe, the US and China reported sales growth for the month.


In the first nine months of 2023, the company sold 509,158 cars, a 19 percent increase over last year.


Volvo Cars' Recharge range of models with all-electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains grew 37% compared to September last year and represented 34% of all cars sold globally. The share of all-electric cars accounted for 15 percent of global sales, which was 12 percent in September 2022.


Sales by region

Sales in Europe totaled 25,489 cars, an increase of 32% compared to the same month last year. Recharge car sales grew to 13,599 cars, resulting in a 53% share for the region.


In the US, sales increased 65 percent compared to September last year, totaling 10,946 cars. During this period, sales of the company's Recharge models represented 28% of total sales in the US.


In China, Volvo Cars increased sales during September by 4%, resulting in 15,460 cars sold. Sales of Recharge models grew 20% compared to the same period last year.


Volvo Cars' best-selling model of the month worldwide remains the XC60, selling 20,243 cars at retail in September (2022: 15,621), followed by the XC40 with total sales of 18,306 cars (2022: 14,497) and the Volvo XC90 with 8,530 cars sold (2022: 7,380).
